Iftar: the meal of breaking the fast
Ihram: the voluntary restrictive state the pilgrim must enter when performing Hajj or umrah
Ihsan: doing things with beauty in the best way possible, with excellence and care for detail
Imam: leader, typically prayer leader in a mosque congregation; qualified and expert scholar of Islamic law and tradition
Iman: belief and faith
Injeel: the original scripture sent to Jesus, the Gospel
InshaAllah: God willing (said when discussing doing anything in the future)
Iqamah: the second call to prayer that is given immediately before the congregational prayer begins
Isha: the night prayer (one of the 5 obligatory daily ritual devotions)
Istighfar: the act of seeking forgiveness
