Miracles of God’s Messenger, Solomon

By August 16, 2024Uncategorized

God gave His Messenger Solomon a number of unique miracles. Due to his high level of wisdom, he was highly aware of the power of God. He recognized that God was responsible for any condition he found himself in, whether easy or difficult, and he praised God for it. He said, “All praise and thanks is due to God [27:15]. God says that Solomon asked for a kingdom unique to him, and God answered his prayer. “He turned to Us and prayed: ‘Lord forgive me! Grant me such power as no one after me will have. You are the Most Generous Provider.’” [38:35]

He was granted a vast army, the likes of which had never been seen before or after. It was made up of battalions of humans, troops of jinn and squadrons of animals – God says, “Solomon’s hosts of jinn, men, and birds were marshaled in ordered ranks before him.” [27:17]

God’s Messenger Solomon was granted the ability to speak to animals – God tells us that Solomon spoke to the hoopoe bird. “Solomon inspected the birds and said, ‘Why do I not see the hoopoe? Is he absent?” [27:20]

In addition, he could understand the language of the ants.  One time when the battalions of the army were marching, they were about to pass through a valley heavily populated with ants. One of the tiny ants saw the huge army approaching and cried out, “O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Solomon and his army crush you, while they perceive not.” [27:18].

Another unique miracle of Solomon is that he was granted control over the Jinn – God says, “some of the jinn worked under his control with his Lord’s permission.” [34:12  They worked for him, constructing buildings, mining metals, diving for treasures, and keeping security over his kingdom.

Solomon was granted the ability to control the wind. He could travel vast distances in a short amount of time. God says, “And to Solomon ˹We subjected˺ the wind: its morning stride was a month’s journey and so was its evening stride.” [34:12]

Solomon was the first to have and use molten brass, which he molded into tools, armory, and utensils – God says, “We made a fountain of molten brass flow for him” [34:12]

As you can see, the Kingdom of Solomon was vast. He ruled with wisdom and justice and acknowledged that all power and strength was from God alone.
